About passivesmoke.ch
A platform for living together better
Secondhand smoke — or vapour — in homes and shared spaces is a reality for many people in Switzerland. Whether it comes from a neighbour, common areas, or nearby public spaces, it can seep into living quarters and become a source of tension, discomfort, and health concerns.
Faced with such situations, it is often difficult to know how to react: whom to contact, what steps to take, what your rights are, and how to address the issue without souring relationships.
This platform was designed to answer these questions in a clear, practical, and accessible way for everyone.
What the platform offers
The platform provides :- reliable information on the effects of secondhand smoke and vaping
- explanations regarding how smoke infiltrates (through windows, ventilation systems, building structures, etc.)
- practical advice on how to address the situation constructively
- templates for messages and letters (for neighbours, property managers, et al.)
- personal accounts of real-life experiences

An approach based on respect and practical solutions
This platform adopts a non-judgemental approach. It does not aim to pit people against one another, but rather to foster better coexistence.
The content provided is based on three principles:
- providing clear and reliable information
- offering practical and actionable solutions
- encouraging dialogue and mutual respect
As every situation is different, the goal is not to impose a single answer, but to offer useful guidelines for moving forward.
